Northwest Neighborhoods - Houston Texas - Buyer Agents Realty

Northwest

Northwest Houston is another high-growth area, with homes ranging in price up to $2 million. Areas worth looking into in the Northwest section include: Garden Oaks, Bear Creek & Highway 6, Cypress-Fairbanks, and The Champions/FM 1960 Area.

The completion of the Sam Houston Tollway, the upgrading of Hwy. 6 and Farm Road 1960 and improvements to Hwy. 290 have opened up accessibility to the region. This area is attractive to employees of local energy and chemical companies located on the west side. Northwest residents appreciate the present and future freeway improvements aimed at facilitating travel in this high-growth region.

One neighborhood of note is Inwood Forest which was built in the late 1960's and 1970's. Inwood Forest features a newly-renovated golf club, large lots and considerable lots of square footage for the money. Many homes have pools and may be purchased in the low $100,000 range.

GARDEN OAKS

The homes in Garden Oaks are extremely diversified and date from the 1940's and 1950's. Home styles range from two bedroom with cedar shakes on the outside to large, two story homes with columns in front. Garden Oaks has a close-in location that make it accessible to both the 610 Loop and Hwy. 290. Additionally, Garden Oaks has large lots - that new home construction just cannot offer in today's building boom. So if you're in the mood for a "fixer-upper" or simply want to buy now and add on later - take a look at Garden Oaks.

CYPRESS-FAIRBANKS

The third major area of the northwest is Cypress-Fairbanks, demarcated by Highways 249 and 290. Lakewood Forest is home to many young families who are part of the Compaq's 13,000-member workforce.

THE CHAMPIONS/FM 1960 AREA
